The Resources of Newfoundland
The island of Newfoundland has many renewable resources, and non-renewable resources. The island is over half covered with coniferous and deciduous trees. The Beothuks had many trees to build things from at their disposal. Along with many lakes covering the island, a seeming less unlimited fresh water supply was provided. Since Newfoundland is an island it would be surrounded by kilometers and kilometers of glorious coast. This is where the Beothuks could catch as much seafood as they wanted. Even though Newfoundland has very poor soil quality, even vegetables and berries were at their disposal, because these food don't require good quality soil to grow in. Along with the renewable resources came the non-renewable resources, like oil and coal, are found in the sedimentary rock layers. The Beothuks never found out about this and therefore never used these resources. Even without these resources they still thrived until the day of their extinction. So whether it be water to trees, the Beothuks had it all.
